Cultural Heritage
Over the past several years, 3D laser scanning has become the desired method for archiving, preserving, restoring art and cultural heritage artifacts. 3D laser scanning precisely captures the shape and dimensions of the item being scanned. It even measures imperfections and wear. Because of the completeness and accuracy of the scan data, the shape of historical artifacts can be archived digitally forever. Also, the 3D scan data is often used to reconstruct missing pieces of artifacts and for 3D dimensional and geometrical analysis.
