Lo que ellos han inventado es el primer tejido inteligente del mundo.<\/p>\n<p>En vez de usar LEDs Org\u00e1nicos o LCDs, el equipo de la Universidad Fudan decidi\u00f3 usar pol\u00edmeros emisores de luz con c\u00e9lulas electroqu\u00edmicas (PLECs) para producir los tejidos brillosos. La elecci\u00f3n se bas\u00f3 en el hecho que los PLECs tienen una alta eficiencia de conversi\u00f3n de electr\u00f3n a fot\u00f3n comparado con los LEDS y LCDs, requieren menos energ\u00eda y son m\u00e1s transparentes.<\/p>\n<p>El equipo comenz\u00f3 con un fino cable de acero y lo cubri\u00f3 con nano part\u00edculas de \u00f3xido zinc, un pol\u00edmero electroluminiscente y una capa transparente de nanotubos de carb\u00f3n. El resultado fue una peque\u00f1a fibra lo suficiente flexible como para ser tejida dentro de una tela.<\/p>\n<p>Actualmente, los PLECs emiten una luz brillosa azul o amarilla pero pueden ser hechos para emitir otros colores. Una desventaja hasta el momento es que estas fibras creadas tiene un ciclo de vida muy corto para poder ser vestidas cotidianamente y que su brillo disminuye a la mitad dentro de las cuatro horas de operaci\u00f3n. Los investigadores, sin embargo, insisten que los PLECs podr\u00e1n eventualmente durar varios miles de horas.<\/p>\n<p>Al igual que otros descubrimientos, los PLECs est\u00e1n sometidos a un per\u00edodo de prueba y error. Pero no hay que enga\u00f1arse, estos experimentos recientes llevar\u00e1n a versiones m\u00e1s duraderas de fibras. No hay duda que alg\u00fan d\u00eda no muy lejano estaremos vistiendo ropa que emita luz a la vez que abrigue.
