Con un campo visual m\u00e1s grande que el de los humanos y una excelente percepci\u00f3n de objetos en movimiento r\u00e1pido, su visi\u00f3n sin igual podr\u00eda ser la raz\u00f3n para que \u00e9sta especie sea tan abundante. Todas las mariposas tienen la capacidad de distinguir la luz ultravioleta y polarizada a trav\u00e9s de sus foto receptores, la luz que detecta c\u00e9lulas en la visi\u00f3n del color. Pero si bien las mariposas poseen el don de una visi\u00f3n extraordinaria, la mariposa australiana Swallowtail sobre pasa a todas.<\/p>\n<p>Al igual que los humanos, la mayor\u00eda de los insectos tienen 3 clases de foto receptores. Las mariposas generalmente poseen 4 clases de receptores que son responsables por su amplio rango visual. La mariposa Swallowtail, sin embargo cuenta con 15 tipos diferentes de foto receptores. Estos receptores son utilizados para identificar marcas ultravioletas para su uso en el apareamiento y la polinizaci\u00f3n. Un estudio en Jap\u00f3n de 200 mariposas machos Swallowtail revel\u00f3 que cada clase de receptor es estimulado por diferentes colores. Por ejemplo, algunas flores presentan un contraste visual cuando polinizan mientras que luces verdes se activan cuando se ponen los huevos.<\/p>\n<p>Las mariposas utilizan la luz para buscar alimentos, encontrar pareja, reconocer predadores y distinguir el n\u00e9ctar en flores. La gu\u00eda del color del n\u00e9ctar del casta\u00f1o de indias cambiar\u00e1 de amarillo a rojo cuando el n\u00e9ctar ya no est\u00e9 en producci\u00f3n. Las mariposas usar\u00e1n estas pistas para determinar qu\u00e9 florecimientos pueden ser polinizados. Las mariposas tambi\u00e9n poseen parches ultravioletas para distinguirse ellas mismas. Algunas especies de mariposas pueden parecer id\u00e9nticas pero a menudo las mariposas machos y hembras se distinguir\u00e1n s\u00f3lo por sus marcas ultravioletas, mientras que otras especies mostrar\u00e1n grandes diferencias visuales.<\/p>\n<p>Los humanos tienen la habilidad de distinguir las caracter\u00edsticas del mundo por medio de una variedad de herramientas y sentimientos. Las mariposas se deben basar fundamentalmente en su sentido visual para mantener su especie floreciente.
