Con una muestra opaca, el espectrofot\u00f3metro utiliza una fuente de luz para iluminar el objeto y luego captura la luz reflejada. Por ejemplo, con una muestra de pintura p\u00farpura, la muestra se ilumina y luego se mide la luz reflejada; sin embargo, no toda la luz que ilumina la muestra se refleja, por lo tanto, es la combinaci\u00f3n de luz reflejada y absorbida en varias longitudes de onda lo que produce un color espec\u00edfico que vemos, como una muestra de pintura p\u00farpura. El siguiente diagrama muestra una representaci\u00f3n de este proceso.<\/p>\n<p>Si se trata de una muestra clara o transparente, se mide la luz transmitida a trav\u00e9s de la muestra. Al pasar a trav\u00e9s de una muestra, la combinaci\u00f3n de luz absorbida y transmitida produce las caracter\u00edsticas de color de la muestra. Por ejemplo, con un l\u00edquido azul, la fuente de luz que lo atraviesa adquiere esas caracter\u00edsticas azules. Dependiendo del color que utilice el espacio, los valores de triest\u00edmulo var\u00edan. La f\u00f3rmula m\u00e1s popular es <a href=\"\/mx\/learning-center\/color-measurement\/cie-2000-color-difference-formula\/\">CIE L *a *b*<\/a>, que representa:<\/p>\n<p>L *: luminosidad que va de negro a blanco en una escala de 0 a 100, siendo 0 negro y 100 blanco<br \/>\na *: representa rojo a verde; el rojo y el verde son colores opuestos, por lo que no puede quitar el verde de un color; para hacer que un color sea menos verde, debe agregarle rojo<br \/>\nb * &#8211; Representa amarillo a azul, nuevamente colores opuestos<br \/>\nEsta f\u00f3rmula produce 3 coordenadas de color que se utilizan para formar una ecuaci\u00f3n para calcular la posici\u00f3n del color. Usando este espacio de color y datos, las diferencias (conocidas como deltas) se pueden usar para comparar con muestras anteriores tomadas en funci\u00f3n de la comparaci\u00f3n de las coordenadas. En pocas palabras, si las coordenadas no coinciden, las muestras no son del mismo color exacto. Si bien es muy dif\u00edcil lograr que dos colores coincidan exactamente, puede crear tolerancias utilizables que le permitir\u00e1n aceptar productos dentro de un rango delta espec\u00edfico que satisfaga sus expectativas, y lo m\u00e1s importante, las de sus clientes.<\/p>\n<h4>Usos del espectrofot\u00f3metro<\/h4>\n<p>Los espectrofot\u00f3metros se utilizan en una amplia gama de industrias para medir el color y garantizar resultados de calidad constante. Se utilizan en laboratorios y en el campo, y para una multitud de aplicaciones; principalmente para mantener la consistencia del color en todos los procesos de fabricaci\u00f3n.
