Konica Minolta Sensing Launches All New CA-2500 2D Color Analyzer

Ramsey, NJ - Konica Minolta Sensing Americas, Inc. (KMSA), the worldwide leader in the industrial measurement of color, light and 3D shape, announces the launch of its newest light and display measurement instrument; the CA-2500 2D Color Analyzer. The CA-2500 is the successor model of the CA-2000.

The CA-2500 has an expanded low-luminance measurement range of 0.05 cd/m². The service life measurement cycles have been increased to approximately five times that of the CA-2000. This instrument uses XYZ filters that provide high correlation with the spectral response of the human eye. The XYZ filters closely match the CIE 1931 color-matching function to provide luminance and chromaticity measurements.

The included data management software, CA-S25w, provides advanced functionality to make the entire measurement process easier, from measurement preparations such as focusing and positioning to the evaluation of measurement results. The software can also be used with existing CA-2000 instruments. It provides improvements over the previous CA-S20w software, but can also read data that was measured and saved using the CA-S20w.

Available now, this unit is ideal for the evaluation and inspection of a variety of display technologies used in products such as high end displays (avionics/broadcast/medical), smartphones and PCs. It is used for high-resolution, two-dimensional measurements of luminance and chromaticity. Jay Catral, Sales & Application Manager states, “As displays attain ever increasing resolution, the need for screen uniformity becomes even more critical. The CA-2500 2D Color Analyzer gives display designers the tools they need to ensure that their display has a high degree of color and brightness uniformity from edge to edge."

The CA-2500 2D Color Analyzer will be showcased at the upcoming 2013 NAB, CinemaCon and Lightfair trade shows.

Benefits of Using Konica Minolta’s Portable Luminance Meters

Benefits of Using Konica Minolta’s Portable Luminance Meters

With increasing innovations in the lighting industry, light meters have become important in measuring in a wide range of applications across many industries. These powerful luminance meters give technicians an accurate appraisal of the characteristics of any number of light sources for quality control and other important purposes.

Konica Minolta's LS-150 or LS-160 luminance meters encompasses many features that make them light meters of choice among professionals. They are in the higher range of DIN quality class B, and are light and compact units that are easy to handle and run on AA batteries.

The LS-150 or LS-160 luminance meters use a single lens reflex optical system. With it, users can achieve targeting at an amazingly precise level, with the assurance that, even at short ranges, the exact measuring area will show up clearly in the viewfinder. When using the optional close-up lens with the LS-160 model, users can obtain accurate light measurement data even as small as an area measuring only 0.4mm in diameter.

The LS-150/LS-160 light meter's LCD screen and viewfinder both display the value of measured luminance. The viewfinder allows the technician to measure the object with the advantage of not having to maneuver the meter away from their face. The LS-160’s neutral density eyepiece filter (included) ensures safety when measuring very strong sources of light. Stability is certain with a uniquely designed pistol grip

For measuring very dark surfaces, the LS-150 luminance meter is the meter of choice with its range starting at 0.001cd/m2. Calibration and color correction tasks are simpler. When correcting luminance levels, users choose a standard luminance, and the unit automatically corrects discrepancies for the desired sources of light specified by the end-user.

Other measurement values the LS-150/LS-160 can read include luminance ratio, peak luminance and instantaneous luminance. The ability to connect directly to a computer, with the included software, gives the versatility for controlling measurements from a PC through repeated interval measurements for a specific number of times. It is easy to export data to various external applications. In addition, the optional illuminance adapter allows for convenient illuminance measurements.

Konica Minolta builds all of our luminance meters with a commitment to innovative technological advancements. Our customers use our instruments in measuring critical applications that demand accuracy as well as simple, uncomplicated functions that keep projects on schedule.

The LS-150/LS-160 provides technicians, engineers, lab workers and many others with these advantages.

Here is a brief overview of the benefits and features of this portable measuring instrument:

Complete Solution for the Automotive Industry

Providing Consistent LED Measurements Within the Automotive Industry

The CL-500A Illuminance Spectrophotometer's compact and lightweight design makes it easy to carry or hold in your hand for portable measurements. It can be used for the evaluation of high-class, next-generation lamps such as LED and EL illumination. In addition, the spectral irradiance waveform and peak wavelength can also be checked directly on the unit.

The CL-500A is equipped with standard tripod sockets on both the top and bottom surface, so it can easily be mounted on a jig facing either downward or upwards. It also includes convenient, easy-to-use software. This software will read measurement data from the CL-500A directly into Excel. This allows for further processing of data to be performed using the included pre-set templates with graphs or various Excel functions. In addition to quantifying the color variations, the software is also equipped with a function to enable easy binning. Another function of the software the ability to display the MacAdam ADCM levels and CIE charts.

The instrument also has an informative color-rendering index display (CRI). The color-rendering index expresses the comparison between the light source being tested and a standard illuminant. The maximum value is 100, with the value decreasing as the color-rendering difference increases. This indicates how far the appearance, under the test light source, is from the natural color under sunlight. Scotopic illuminance and the S/P ratio of scotopic illuminance can be measured with the instrument alone and with the included software. Other measurement functions include continuous measurement mode, average of multiple measurements, delayed measurement and the display of data at a specific wavelength.

The motility of the CL-500A Illuminance Spectrophotometer allows for the simple evaluation of color coordinates and intensity of automotive lighting. It is the perfect measuring instrument for interior and exterior vehicle lighting, portable measurements of CRI and spectral irradiance waveform measurements. The accuracy of this instrument limits the margin of error for manufacturers in the automotive industry.

The lighting system of an automobile requires extreme uniformity and precision, not only for the manufacturer, but for the safety of the driver as well. It is imperative that brightness standards and LED measurements remain consistent from vehicle to vehicle. The CL-500A provides a complete solution for those looking to achieve that goal. It can measure the light emitted from illuminated buttons and switches, interior lighting, displays, gauges, headlamps, tail lamps and more. During the production and quality control process, measurements are taken and compared to the standard values set by the manufacturer. Data can then be uploaded to the CL-s10w software, where it can be evaluated and verified.
