LED-850
Due to a low electrical power requirement of only several watts, high-power LEDs do not only generate high light output. The thermal dissipation associated with this power load, however, leads to considerable warming of the LED chip and packaging, so this energy has to be properly dissipated in order to guarantee the specified LED lifetime and to avoid failure. Chip temperature also affects the emitted optical power and the emission spectrum (color). The higher the temperatures the lower the amount of light generated.
Instrument Systems has two ranges of test sockets for reliable operation of high-power LEDs – LED-81x series with passive cooling and LED-850 series with active cooling/heating via a thermoelectric cooler element. Sturdy contact pins enable reliable electrical connection to the LEDs.

Features
- TEC cooling and heating (temperature range: + 5°C to + 85°C)
- suitable for LED adapters with 50 mm Ø
- exchangeable sockets for popular high-power LEDs und Level 2 boards
- 10 W maximum LED thermal dissipation
- 2 A maximum drive current
LED-850 TEC test adapters allow users to determine the influence of electrical and thermal operational parameters on the optical performance of high-power LEDs. Thermoelectric cooler element s(fan assisted) permit cooling or heating of the LED with an accuracy of 0.1°C. Additionally, the integrated PT100 sensor as well as the thermoelectric cooler element can be hooked up to a TEC controller to set and display the temperature.
