Instrument Systems LS100/LS500
The LS100 and LS500 are light sources developed by Instrument Systems to use with optical fibers specifically. Both of these light sources make sure that there is efficient coupling even into multimode fibers. Different versions cover the entire spectral range from UV to IR.
All models have SMA connectors and fiber bundle adapters available. This provides compatibility with Instrument Systems measurement accessories and the correct type of optical fiber. The LS 100 series also has stabilized power supplies available. Instead of a stabilized power supply the LS 500 has a power supply integrated into the housing.
Another included feature of the LS 500 model is a cut-off filter that has a transmission range down to 22nm. It absorbs radiation below 220nm and keeps standard fibers from experiencing solarization (darkening) that often occurs with fibers of this type. Deep-UV models down to 190nm do not have a filter to prevent this which requires special fibers resistant to solarization.
